TRUE BLOOD TITLE SEQUENCE ANALYSIS

 TRUE BLOOD

Mood of this programme is  sexual and grungy

How does it reflect the show?
True Blood manages to perfectly to encapsulate the mood and feel of the show while featuring only a few frames directly connected to the series, or, indeed, vampires (the ‘God Hates Fangs’ sign). The red lips inhaling smoke towards the end that have been used in the show’s branding are the closest the sequence comes to vampiric activity, but the imagery here is much broader and evokes the South for us who are not there. Images of birth and death, light and dark and of ecstasy both sexual and religious express the mood and themes of the show in such a way that the audience knows what to expect even without vampire-specific information. And  with all these shots thereis a song called "Bad Things" which is written and recorded by American country music. This was a really good choice for the programme because  it represents having sex with vampires where its declaring, in ultra-suggestive tones, ‘I wanna do bad things with you?’in the song .This lyric could be ambiguous, this could be sexual or it could be literal.
In the title sequence there's a close up shot of a young child in aKu Klux Klan outfit, juxtaposition betweena child(innocence) and Ku klux klan (hatred) which could possibly symbolise the exploration of loss of innocence with in theshow. For my title sequence i hope to do something similar but instead it will be the loss of life instead of loss of innocence.

There's also a close up shot of bright red liquid on a childs face after eating berries which connotes blood this suggests that the genre could be horror. Shots of police in southern states and hillbillies suggests exploration of racial issues this could be a drama.
Another shot shows a women with her legs round man suggests there might be some sexual/ lustful tone in this show. Involving ku klux klan illustrates there is a racially aggressive tone a sort of isolation to the TV show.
For my title sequence it'll be in a similar form to the True Blood title sequence , using a lot of cut shots and grunge effect , however my title sequence wont be sexual because it wouldnt link to the plot and genre of my programme.
